When Matayoshi Mitsuko looks back on the past years, she cannot pinpoint a very special moment of happiness – for her, every single day counts among her happiest moments. The former hotel owner from Nago was born in March 1924 and has six grandchildren and already thirty great-grandchildren in addition to five of her own children. In the meantime, Matayoshi Mitsuko lives in a retirement home and enjoys sharing her time with the other residents. It is above all her tireless curiosity and her enthusiasm for dancing that enrich her everyday life time and again. Besides folk dances from Okinawa, gymnastics is a passion of the 96 year old. This is also an important ingredient in her secret recipe for a long, happy life – in addition to the advice to get up early in the morning at four o’clock, to exercise a lot and, above all, to eat well.
